Happy Halloween!

Hey guys!

Happy halloween!

I know, I might be a little late but I can’t help it.

Seriously, I love the season of the witch. Not only it celebrates my favorite season but it lets us take a ride on the dark side.

I, myself can’t get over the halloween special posts on social media. And then there’s trick or treating, spooky movies and supernatural and buffy rewatch too.

So here I am, Trying my hand at a spooky short story because I really want to(and the quarantine is a bit helpful). Hope you like it.

Finding a friend.

Once upon a time, in a far away land, lived a girl. She had everything. She was pretty, she was rich and lived in a beautiful house. She had loving parents, who provided for everything except for time. All she could ever want was a friend.

Everytime she tried to make friends, she failed. All the girls and boys at school thought her hair and eyes were too black, her fingers too gnarled, her body too thin, her skin too pale. Everyday for her felt like a black cloud following her every move.

One day she came across a flyer for the town fair. She was very excited but she wasn’t allowed to go all by herself. But this time she had a plan. She sneaked out of the house and started towards the fair. Nothing can stop her today not even fatigue.

She made it to the fair. There were so many rides, food stalls and games. She saw a fortune tellers tent and ran towards it. There was a lady with a crystal ball, sitting with her eyes closed.

“Sit down, girl” the lady said her eyes were still closed.

This shocked the girl and she sat in front of the crystal ball with her eyes open wide.

The lady opened her eyes and said “You want a friend”.

“Yes, but how…….. The lady cut her mid-sentence and said “It doesn’t matter, you will soon find a new friend”

“Really? How?” the girl asked.

“Your friend will find you” the lady said.

The girl placed two gold coins on the table and stood up.

“Don’t you want to know anything else?” the lady asked.

“I got all the answers I need” said the girl and walked out of the tent.

As she bought some snacks and was heading in the opposite direction.

“Is this yours, madam?” she heard a voice.

She turned around and saw a boy holding her silk scarf.

“Oh! Yes,thank you” she said looking at her feet thinking about what to say next.

The boy smiled and turned around.

“Would you be my friend?” asked the girl.

“Yes, if you are willing to do something for me” he said.

“What do you want?” The girl asked.

“Fill this for me” he said, handing her a vial.

“With what?” she asked taking the vial from him.

“With your tears” he replied.

His words left her bemused. But she had made her mind. She was going to fill the vial with her tears.

She nodded and walked back home.

At night before she went to bed. She thought about all the things that made her sad and she cried. She collected her tears in vial repeating all the steps for a week but the vial didn’t fill up.

She repeated everything again for a month but still the vial didn’t fill up. She repeated it again and again……….still the vial was half empty.

One night she skipped the routine and fell sleep. Suddenly, the boy from the fair appeared in her dream. He said “you failed”

“But, I tried” she said.

“Trying is of no use, you should have done it instead” he said.

“If you want me to be sad then you can’t be my friend” she said.

“If you can’t be sad for me then you can’t be my friend” cried the boy, his eyes blazing with anger.

The girl woke up. She looked out the window and saw the rising sun.

To her left was her night stand where she left the vial last night. She picked it up. What she saw shocked her. This time the vial was fully filled.

She smiled to herself and put the vial in her schoolbag.

She knew she wasn’t going to be friendless anymore.

——————-The End—————————

Till then,

Bye.
